![]() I have taken the watch to a watchmaker who will hopefully add hands and a glass. Were there perhaps catalogues of watches of the brand in question and could it be traced in the catalogue? Ĭan you please help me with further identification of this watch? I have not seen the same dial anywhere on the internet. The style of the dial reminds me again of a watch on the internet referred to as "Alpina Glashütte Werk Nr. I have not been able to identify the calibre of the watch, but in browsing the internet I have noticed that it is very similar to the calibre referred to as FHF 18, see, or Alpina 161 or Venus 70a, see. I'm not sure if this means that if a watch only bears the Union Horlogere marking without any other adjectives, it was made between 19. From 1908 onwards, the Alpina mark was used on the premium watches of this association. I found, see, that the Union Horlogere designation was used for watches from 1901. The watch bears the Union Horlogere brand, a watchmakers' cooperative originally from Switzerland, with Alpina as a major member. He may have bought it later sometime around 1918 when the independent Czechoslovakia was declared. I found a pocket watch with family history, bought by my grandfather's brother, probably around 1910 in Austria-Hungary in the territory declared in 1918 as the first Czechoslovak Republic.
